I have noticed that I can divide weird numbers together really fast and multiply pretty good in my head, but adding 7+9 is harder than 4/79 (I have no reason why). I also am great with patterns; I took an IQ test telling me this. I also remember people's numbers or license plates well and usually by multiplying, dividing, adding, and subtracting
Ex.) License Number - 369 2460
So 3+6=9 and then 24 times 2.5 is 60
I love to do these things, but have never thought of getting a job involving mathematics, any advice? Are any of you really good with numbers and patterns?
This is a frequent issue among many people who tend to score high on IQ tests, they can do quantum physics in their head but struggle with basic math. If you love doing these things, by all means, get a job in the field if you want and get paid to do what you love. Not many can brag about that. However if branching out is what you seek, don't limit yourself to your obvious talent for math. It seems to me that your real talent lies in your photographic memory and ability to visualize complex ideas as memory tools (called mnemonics). These talents could come in handy in other fields as well, such as detective work, medicine, or even law.
The best thing I can think of to tell you is to look at all options you are interested in. I'm sure you could find yourself valuable to a number of careers. Are any of you really good with numbers and patterns?
nope. i rather suck at it actually
Recognizing patterns is the key to cryptography or cryptology. Have you ever thought about that?
