a number is an illusion, we are all marked with an imaginary number that doesn't exist.
since 10 to the 9th power equals one trillion possible combinations, I dont think they will need to be recycled anytime soon.
People hide the demise of the number holder from Uncle Sap and keep right on collecting those monthly stipends.
I don't know if you know it, but there is a law that says that once a person who has been assigned a legit SSN and has passed on...he or her number can NEVER again be reassigned to another soul.





So basically, when we die it goes with us.
It is discontinued but no one can have that number even though they are dead.
