I am into playing the lotto and powerball. Does anyone know the science of arranging numbers to hit?

I just recently got started playing the lotto and powerball. Getting ready to play pick three as well. I really want to know how to increase my chances to win. I know there is a science to playing instead of luck. Want the best answer soon as possible. Getting ready to play this week.I am into playing the lotto and powerball. Does anyone know the science of arranging numbers to hit?
All lotteries are totally random events, there is no mathmatically consistant way to increase your chances of winning such that the amount you win on average will be more than the amount you win by playing ';some other way';

The numbers drawn in previous draws have no effect on the numbers to be drawn in the future, if one week draw is 12 14 15, the next weeks draw is just as likely to be 12,14,15 again as it is for any other combination of numbers.

You could increase the frequency over time that you win by buying more lottery tickets, but you will still lose more than you win.

The house advantage on lotteries are HUGE and they should just be avoided all together, casino games offer much better house advantages, you should play them instead if you want to best your chances at winning money.

The lottery was initially developed as a way to raise extra government revenue, it is known as the ';fools tax'; for this reason, so just dont play it.I am into playing the lotto and powerball. Does anyone know the science of arranging numbers to hit?
Sadily there is no science behind the generation of numbers, hence there are balls being popped up by air. The best way to increase your chances, which isn't necessarily the absolute way, is to buy more tickets.

For instance, the winning numbers for Powerball 4/19/2008 were: 13 19 24 33 39 (8)

There is a good chance, none of these numbers will come up for next week, most definately the powerball number will not be 8 for next play time.

Again, some of the hot numbers for the main 5 powerball are:

13, 18, 27, 33, 46

So including one of those numbers in your play may help you alittle bit. Not saying using those numbers as your 5 will necessarily help you but using one or two, will aid you.

Now there is another possibility of helping you out in generating numbers, not necessarily giving you winning based on science.

1) The day in which you were born, example if you were born on 4/20/2008...Pick the number 20

2) Do you have a favorite number, pick that number

3) Call up 5 friends and randomly ask them what their favorite number is, and write them down.

Good luck

1 2 3 4 5 (6) is not a good choice

10 20 30 40 50 (10) another not so lucky choice
There is nothing you can do to increase your chances of winning except buy extra tickets (if you do buy extras I think that not using the same number twice would increase your chances).

Alternatively instead of buying more tickets you could join a syndicate www.lotto-millions.co.uk which will increase your chances of getting the jackpot but you would have to share it.
when you gamble against the state lotto or power ball your odds of winning are against you, but if you learn how to play the stock market you can win a profit everytime. The odds are in your favor with the stocks.
Do you notice who win the lottery when you see them on the news? Scientists? People who work at NASA? Professors?

No. Most of the time it is some toothless hick in a single wide.

There is no science that can predict what numbers are going to hit. In fact if you start trying to get into that quackery, you will find all kinds of people looking to exploit you. People who want to sell you a system.

The fact is this. One of the most fundamental constants of a lottery is that it is random. Those little plastic balls don't remember which ones came out last week. If number 37 has not come out for a while it does not mean it is unlucky or it is due. These are all gamblers fallacies that will cause you to waste money.

So play the lottery for fun. Enjoy that dream of getting rich. But never be conned into thinking you can beat the system or even shift the odds in your favor. Each time you buy a ticket you have one more shot at the money. But if you bought one ticket with a different number on it every day it would take you more than 400,000 years to cover every number combination.

UPDATE: I have to strongly disagree with the point made by slickkittykattwhopurs. To claim that because the Powerball number was 8 last draw, it would be unlikely to be 8 again this draw, is exactly the gamblers logic I was talking about.

There are 42 red Power Balls drawn with each lottery draw. There is an equal chance that any one of these will be drawn with any given draw. The reason some people think that the same number will not be drawn twice, is because it is more likely not to happen. After all, there are 41 other numbers that could come out. And a 41:42 chance is better than a 1:42 chance. But this does not mean that the same number cannot come out. It does not mean that any one of those 42 balls is more likely or less likely to pop out. It is just a misconception from people that don't understand math.
