Human beings use decimal. Computers use binary. Who uses hexadecimal and octal?What is the use of hexadecimal and octal numbers?
They used to be used extensively in programming. Hex is still quite commom as a means of file storage. Octal has fell by the way side due to the larger bus sizes.What is the use of hexadecimal and octal numbers?
Hexadecimal and octal are based on the numbers 16 and 8, respectively. These are both powers of two, and are thus easy for computers, which use the binary system on the lowest level, to work with, while being less cumbersome than binary for humans.
