Does anyone else find it completely boring and unoriginal when auto makers give cars numbers instead of names?

A few examples: CLK320, RX8, 5000. C'mon guys. Let's get creative here. Just open up any book listing names of mythology and point to a word on the page. Chances are whatever you peg will be better than some letter/number combination.Does anyone else find it completely boring and unoriginal when auto makers give cars numbers instead of names?
I agree.

I find it completely boring and unoriginal. I believe, often, the reason for it is that when the manufacturer starts off with building the prototype it usually starts with a series of numbers and letters to denote various performance details of the vehicle. For the purpose of mass production it suits the companies well. Sometimes the numbers and letters just stay with the vehicle and it gets released that way.

However, designing a car is a labor of love for one or many involved. It's like building a ship, writing a book, or, to be so bold, having a child. A name for this baby is definately in order. Your pet peeve is one of mine too.

The real reason why I'm answering is because of one of the other answers you've recieved here. I think the answerer is completely missing the point of this and I've decided to address this. I doubt the answerer will ever read this but I just want to say this anyways.

To the wayward answerer:

It doesn't matter if you never gave this a second thought. Nobody was specifically addressing you in the first place. Therefore nobody cares if you think the question is worthless. I think anyone can agree that there are more pressing issues to be dealt with in the world. Why you have stepped aside in your crusade to change the world to deliver this opinion(?) is a bit of a mystery, but all opinions are welcome here from what I gather.

Nice of you to nominate this asker's pet peeve as his/her's biggest worry. How very presumptous of you. Maybe you don't know this, but this site is intended for entertainment. Not to change the world.

We all want to make the world a better place in our own ways. So here's my opinion: you're swimming in circles in the wrong pond. You ought to be out in some protest march while the riot police moniter you or chained to a giant redwood tree somewhere in the forest just waiting to be fingerprinted yet again in hopes of getting a little attention perhaps on the six o'clock news. You little Earth muffin, you.

And don't say 'cheers' to someone when you don't mean it. It's an endearing salutation meant for those who are trusting and neighborly with each other. You're just embarrassing yourself even more by doing that.Does anyone else find it completely boring and unoriginal when auto makers give cars numbers instead of names?
It is annoying. I think the number system in the same model refers to the trim , laymans terms stripped, nice, loaded.
The auto manufacturers are running out

of new names for the cars.

Ergo they are forced to use Numbers

and Letters. Or use names that seem

to make no sense at all.
Alphabet soup, You have to love it, It's just one way for automakers to show how pristine their car line is. It's also a simple and easy way for auto makers to keep tract of production lines. computers catalog thing completely different then how people do. this is one of the main reasons automakers have switched to the alphabet line up. Yeah it may not be as creative or even remotely as much fun as the name of a car. But it's better for their production tracking then a name. After all even William Shakespeare said, What's in a name?
That is so hilarious! I dont know why that person came here and answer the question either. Maybe shes mad because she never got her drivers license and does not know hot to drive a car in the first place. So she just does not like cars. I will bet you anything shes sitting back with a grin shaking her head thinking shes got it all right and the rest of the world has got it all wrong.

Cheers to all, even the funny lady. Loosen up. You might even have fun.
Not at all.

And if you look at it, cars with numbers are usually more ';premium'; cars anyway. Lexus IS350, LS460. BMW 330i, 335i. The numbers usually denote engine size and the letter prefix has to do with what class of car it is.

In contrast to Ford Escort, Taurus. Buick Skylark, LeSabre. Pontiac Firebird, Jeep Patriot....now tell me names are cool, ROTFL !
They should have stopped with the 225, I mean deuce and a quarter.
I personally hate that......How am I supposed to remember if it is an 87ZRX....or an X3000 series, or what? Anything would be better than using all those numbers.
No, frankly I've never given it a second thought. I guess I think there are more pressing issues to be concerned with. But I'm glad that this is your biggest worry. Cheers!!! :)
