How to find a decimal numbers in between 2 numbers on a number line?

Ex. 12.54 and 12.541 OR 2.781 and 2.7342 - how to find a decimal number between each pair on a number line.How to find a decimal numbers in between 2 numbers on a number line?

Straightforward method: Take the average of the two numbers. E.g.,


(12.54 + 12.541)/2 = 12.5405

Cleverer method:


Add trailing zeroes. Remember that trailing zeroes don't change a the value of a decimal. That is,

聽聽聽聽聽12.541 = 12.5410





Look at the last two digits of each number, 00 and 10. They give you NINE numbers in-between:
