Why do Jews have such large numbers of birth defects?

Look im not being racist just trying to figure out the facts. My friend works for a place that puts people with retardation to work and he said a large number were jewish. I guess its a real issue.Why do Jews have such large numbers of birth defects?
i have found that medical case studies often will stipulate the ethnicity of the patient, in particular we were taught to look out for Ashkenazi Jews.

This does not mean that this is true for all the Jewish people, ever think that the agency your friend works for just happens to be more Jewish friendly than other in your area. Plus how the heck does he know they are Jewish? or is he merely assuming this for some reason. I do not think your figures show a correct correlation to the general population for some reason. It would be useful to look at all the factors before coming to a conclusion.
Your friend must work in an area that has lots of Jews. It used to be, especially amongst the North African Jews (Algeria, Tunis, Morocco etc.), that they would marry their close relatives. That caused many genetic issues.





I am a Jew living is Israel and I'm pretty sure we do not have an unusually big problem with birth defects.
I guess that after the Nazis and the Russians murdered so many of them the gene pool was too small to sustain healthy mutations .

If you aren't racist, you are ignorant. Being Jewish has nothing to do with it. Expand your mind.
Perhaps your friend lives in an area with a large Jewish population. I don't think they have birth defects in any greater number than other groups.
cuz jews have to marry a jewish person and since there isn't many most the time they are marrying someone related to them ... imbreding ....
Is the neighborhood largely Jewish? That could be a simple explanation, but I admit you got my curiosity peaked. I'm going to look into this one during my lunch.
